Hadikat Raja VII, Première Partie

"Seventh visit to the garden. Composition for Keyboard Virus TI."

"Just a detail : this time the piano used in the begining is not one of my favorite prepared pianos created on the Virus TI but the Steinway of Wiener Philarmonik by IK Multimedia, transformed by various GRM Tools. On the contrary, the clarinet you will hear in solo from the third minute and at the end of second part, as all the other sounds, has been created on the Virus TI."

Update: I sent the following to RADIOKLOW and thought I'd share it here as well. I love the use of the Virus in these pieces. Here is why.

"As always, I love your use of the Virus TI and the sounds you create with it. It's refreshing to hear it used in this way. I think it's inspirational in that it reminds people you can use synths for more than rhythm based electronic music. People seem to associate music like this with Buchla and forget you can use a synth like the Virus to explore sound in a similar way. It's easy to fall into the use of synths for more conventional electronic music. Your music reminds me of when I first explored editing synths and my initial love for synthesis unbound by conventional sounds. For me it was all about creating new instruments never heard before. My first synth was the Matrix-6, hence the alias matrix and name of the site. The Matrix-6 has a pretty extensive modulation matrix, tracking and ramp generators, velocity sensitivity, aftertouch, and something not common on most synths, release velocity. You can map all of this to different parameters in the modulation matrix allowing you to essentially create unique expressive instruments." It was more about exploring sound than trying to create specific sounds to use in a mix. Note it's all good in my book, it's just nice to be reminded that you are free to explore anything you want, anytime you want. Don't box yourself in.
