The serial numbers on the ealry minimoog boards DO NOT MATCH the instrument serial numbers.
ReplyDeleteMy mini is #1032, but its VCO board is #1030.
That would make the board up for auction from mini #1035.

ReplyDeleteIts hard to imagine the NONE of the oscillator boards match their respective chassis. That said, I do believe you when you say that yours is mismatched.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure a lot of mixing and matching went on in the early days, but I don't think it's Impossible, by any stretch of the imagination, that this PCB actually came from a minimoog with the same serial number.
The mismatched numbers have been confirmed by other RA mini owners, and Kevin Lightner.

ReplyDeleteNot that it matters, because there's no way to prove what S/N it came from.
On top of that it probably wouldnt change much anyway.
It's an old r.a. moog minimoog oscillator board, period.
It might make a big difference.
ReplyDeleteThe board has an obvious value to a synth collector.
I'd guess it would have more value to an RA mini owner looking to restore an 'upgraded' mini to original spec, who might be more inclined to go for it knowing the mismatch in serial number was normal.
And if I were the owner of the actual synth this board came from, I'd be all over it.
