Gotharman's deMoon synthesizer

via this auction

"Gotharman made a very short run of this black model. It is in perfect condition and has barely been used. This is the 24-Bit version. This is the last of the production runs of deMoons and therefore is very rare. Insured UPS Ground shipping to lower 48 states, but will consider overseas buyers (Please message me if outside the USA). See details below

DETAILS:
GotharMusic proudly presents deMOON 24bit. It now sounds better, has more possibilities, and are easier to operate.

-New 24 bit ultra low noise/hi gain output stage.
-2 new filtertypes - A sharp bandpass filter and an add filter.
-Envelope follower with "smooth" parameter added to the external audio input. It can control the audio output level and modulate all parameters in the filtersection.
-Envelope scaling improved - We listened to the critisism.
-Now deMOON writes parameter name and value in display, when it receives valid MIDI controllers - We listened to our customers.
-New soundbank - YES!!!!!!

MAIN FEATURES:

4-note polyphonic Oscillators with continuously variable waveforms, wave-shape modulation, fm and pwm which works on all waveforms.
4 high quality unique sounding analog-modelled bpf/lpf/hpf/bpf8/add filters.
Granulator effect.
5 distortion types.
4 LFO’s with continuously variable waveforms, waveshape modulation and rate modulation.
2 envelopes.
Filter random generator.
Various control sources for every parameter.
Note randomizer.
32-step step sequencer which is MIDI-syncable, has one note track, one velocity track and one controller track, has realtime transpose, and a keyboard (arpeggiator) mode, in which, you can gate and transpose the sequence via a connected MIDI-keyboard.
Storage of 128 sounds and sequences in eeproms. No need to worry about changing back-up batteries.
Direct MIDI-control of most parameters. Writes parameter name and value in display.
Boxed small and compact – easily portable.

SOUND SYSTEM

Audio outputs:
-24 bit, 58 KHz stereo
-Left and right 1/4 inch jacks.
-Left jack doubles as a stereo headphone jack.

Audio input:
-12 bit, 58 KHz mono.
-1/4 inch jack.

Internal processing:
-40 bit, 58 KHz.
-All DSP algoritms are engineered by GotharMusic.

DIMENSIONS
-140 x 71 x 42 mm without knobs and power supply.

Affordable 4 note polyphonic filterbank synthesizer with build-in granulator and distortion effects, step-sequencer and note randomizer. Small and compact in size with a great sound. The headphone output and the step-sequencer makes it ideal to express your musical ideas everywhere, and store them in 128 memory locations.

THE OSCILLATORS
The deMOON oscillator waveforms are continuously variable from triangle to saw to square or from triangle to saw to noise. The wave-shaping can be modulated from all sources, including the oscillator itself. All waveforms can be pulsewidth and pitch-modulated. The noise waveform can be pitched or unpitched. Unison mode with detune are available. The oscillator section has it's own two LFO's and one envelope. The LFO waveforms are continuously variable from triangle to saw to square to pulse. The LFO's can be both wave and rate-modulated.

THE FILTERS
The deMOON has four filters which are indepedently programable and each can be routed in serial or parallel to the others. Each filter can be set in lo-pass, band-pass, hi-pass, sharp band-pass or add mode. Cut-off, resonance and output levels can be modulated, and each filters output can be panned separately. The filter-section has it's own two LFO's (same types as descibed in the oscillator section), one envelope and one random-generator, that can be trigged from LFO1, LFO2 or midi note-on's.

THE MINIGRAN
The minigran are a scaled down version of our deFormer's granulator effect. It cuts the input up in small fragments, and reorder these fragments to create a totally different sounding output. While the deFormers granulator works in sizes of seconds, deMOON's minigran only works in sizes of milliseconds, so it is not very usable for rearranging beats. It's more like that it rearranges the waveform, and makes it sound glass/bell/voice-like or very strange.

THE DISTORTION EFFECT
deMOON has five different types of distortion to choose from:
-GAIN: Not really a distortion. Just gains the sound. It is possible to gain the sound so it clips.
-VALVE: A digital model of a classic valve distortion.
-SINE: Sine shape distortion. Strange and Noisy!
-FUZZ: A digital model of a classic fuzz distortion.
-XDIS: INSANE!!! Destroys everything.

THE STEP-SEQUENCER
A one-track monophonic type with a maximum of 32 steps. Note, velocity and controller sub-tracks. Tracks are "recorded" by entering values for each step. Syncs to midi-clock.

THE NOTE RANDOMIZER
The note randomizer treats incoming MIDI note on and off's and notes generated by the internal sequencer (if turned on). When it receives note data, it takes a look at a user adjustable probability parameter, and randomly decides if it will play that note or not. If it decides to play the note, it will have a look at a user adjustable random velocity parameter, and if this is higher than zero, it will randomize the note velocity value with the adjusted amount. This effect is very useful for creating variations in repeating patterns.

MIDI CONTROL
deMOON receives note on's and off's and program change on the selected midi-channel. The oscillators also receives pitch-bend data. All modulable parameters can be modulated by velocity and midi-controller 1-3. Midi controllers 4 to 90 are hard-assigned to most of the deMOON's parameters, for easy hooking up with a midi-control device.

THE USER INTERFACE
deMOON's user interface are very simple: One volume knob, two edit/controller knobs, an encoder with click switch and a play/enter pushbutton with blue LED. In edit mode, the two edit/controller knobs edits two parameters at a time, on the selected edit page. In sound select mode, they transmits midi-controller 2 and 3 internally to the parameters, where these controllers are selected as modulation source. The encoder selects sound and navigate around in the edit pages plus it adjusts some switch-functions on some edit pages.

What user's says about deMOON:

Tim Hall, Australia:
So I've had my deMOON for a few months now and I fucking LOVE IT! There is no end to the gorgeous, nasty, sexy and strange noises that come out of this thing. It's a wild beast to rein in, but now that I've figured my way around it I'm getting lovely results! I love the way I can flip this thing from really clean, pure tones to a maniac of sound with just a few tweaks, it really gets people wild live when a solo or synth part starts off all nice and ends up all crazy deMOON! It's already on a few of my band's recordings and I'm sure it will be on everything we do now.
It has really changed my mind about synthesis too. For a long time I've had Rolands and Korgs filling in when I need a full pad, but I've found their sounds really cheesy. This made me hide in the world of my monophonic analogs (Mopho, Little Phatty) but now whenever I think I need some pad work I turn straight to the deMOON and love to bizarre edge it adds to everything. Also when people are checking out my rig after a live show or in the studio they always ignore all the usual Moog, DSI and other company gear and ask straight away what the little blue box is - it always blows their minds if I give a demonstration that not only is the little thing a synthesiser but its also the wildest sounding machine on there.

Jean-Yves, Belgium:
I take my time to check and play with the demoon,it's really an AWESOME MACHINE
I've tried with my guitar with the mini granular preset and it's works very well,I just need to add a boost/buffer to increase the volume,I really find awesome textures,it's sometimes sounds pretty close to my bit crusher but of course really more versatile,I will try to control the different settings with a midi foot controller with expression pedal. It's really a great job and i love this little box:-)
I don't think the random note preset works with the guitar signal."
