RARE Classic Synergy DK II GDS Digital Synthesizer SN 01180

"Rare vintage classic Digital Synthesizer Synergy DK II keyboard serial number 01180, manufactured between 1982 and 1985, in excellent condition. This is the second version with the RS232 serial port for output to computer. You control the Synergy through a Z-80 based machine (KAYPRO II recommended) with at least 64k of memory via a RS-232 port. Does not include the kay-pro computer or software, software is available online.

The Synergy's innovative features included a weighted 76 key keyboard, multi-timbral playback, full polyphony, digital portamento, polyphonic sequencers, microprocessor scanning and stereo outputs. In addition to the 24 factory pre-sets, more sounds could be loaded from ram cartridges.

Very impressive sounding synthesizer even without computer, must sound incredible with computer. Excellent ability to recreate complex acoustic instrument sounds. Synergy has a wonderful warm sound and feel to keyboard.

Some of the features of this outstanding true digital synthesizer are;

700-800 were manufactured, probably less than 100 still in operation.
24 preset voices that can be accessed quickly.
Unlimited voices/sounds when used with computer.
Built-in sequencer, the first keyboard to have one, allowing over-dubbing and playing on top of the sequence, easy to use.
Able to control multiple sounds, up to four, simultaneously from the keyboard - also a first.
Up to six floating split zones, and many different modes for assigning sounds to keys.
32 digital oscillators that are allocated to notes as they are played. Each oscillator can play a sine or a triangle wave.
The Synergy is primarily known as an additive synthesizer, but you can also do FM on it.
Synergy sounds are impressive because you can specify two complete sets of rates and breakpoints for the envelopes, each partial can have its own independent frequency envelope. The envelopes are quite flexible, with up to 16 stages, for both amplitude and frequency.
Joystick on the left hand of the from panel that goes left-to-right for pitch-bend and up-and-down for modulations.
Rotary knobs for globally controlling timbre, volume sensitivity, vibrato rate, amplitude, and its random rate - aperiodicity.
Memory cartridge slot on front panel.

Front panel has the following switches/knobs;

Volume rotary knobs, left and right.
Joystick for pitch-bend and modulations.
Sequencer switches, 1 thru 4.
Space indicator with Switches, Even, Rec, and On.
Speed rotary knob.
Portamento switch

Vibrato rotary knobs for Delay, Rate, and Depth.
