"Here is a demonstration of the rare Roland WS-1 Write Switch, for the CR-78. I am currently selling this WS-1 on Ebay, so this video is to demonstrate the fact that it works...

Since there are no WS-1 videos on YouTube, I figure this will also serve as a general demo of how this rare unit works. Don't expect to be entertained! This might be confusing, so let me explain: Right button is Note-On, left is Rest -- Total of 32 notes in the pattern - You'll hear that as go through the channels, the sounds are added to what you hear - so first time around it's just Kick, then next round, you hear the Kick part as I'm adding the Snare part, etc - That is why you sometimes hear sounds when I press the Rest button. After the pattern is programmed I have to pull the WS-1 connections out of the back in order to hear the results."

  1. Wow, these things are expensive nowadays. I can only imagine how much my mint-in-box-with-manual would be worth.
I've only recently discovered there are 2 different looking versions of this switch: the one you can see on the pictures above which has these square white buttons with a transparent plastic cover (they are missing on this model) and one with slightly rounded white buttons which are the exact same as the start/stop button on the CR-78. I have no idea which model came first and how many were produced but looking for pictures on Google it seems the one with transparent covers on the buttons is the most common model.
