IRCAM stands for the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique and is located in Paris. See the IRCAM label below for more including Buchla. Some posts that stand out include a Q&A on the Acxel II Resynthesizer and the Sogitec 4X and Spaceware on the PDP-1.
You'll spot a Fairlight and Synclavier in the above video as well.
Googlish translation of the YouTube description (original in French below):
Here is a short film that has several SIM (Computer Music Station). The soundtrack "gross" is totally a result of this station, there is no further treatment!
About the work performed with the SIM (Musciales Station Computer) or ISPW (Ircam Signal Processing Workstation) you can read my blog, a section devoted to it!
http://mustudio.fr/?cat=31 [Googlish]
Simplifying we can say very quickly that the SIM is an advanced version of Integrated and 4A, 4B, 4C and famous 4X has developed and used at IRCAM in the 70 to 90. The SIM has the democratization of the "DSP" (MSP) software Max!
And at a price and volume NeXT cube with 1, 2 or 3 cards M860 was much more affordable ($ 15K) that buying a 4X (?? $)!
When speaking of this card in the technical literature it is often one of these acronyms: SPW (Signal Processing Workstation), I.S.P.W. (IRCAM Signal Processing Workstation) and S.I.M. (Computer Music Station) but they are misleading. In fact the correct name is certainly rather M860 card. Understand that these acronyms are in fact the name of the solution, that is to say a NeXTComputer (cube) and one or more (maximum 3) M860 cards and other peripherals (MIDI Interface audio DSP, etc.) and software (Max / TSP, SpecDraw, Spat, Circle, Animal, etc ...) of IRCAM for the operation of all!
These software can process dynamically all MIDI and audio events. To make digital synthesis (VST early, granular, etc.) of multi-channel spatialization, etc. ..."

(Signal Processing Workstation), I.S.P.W. (IRCAM Signal Processing Workstation) et S.I.M.
