"This workshop describes how to program a typical 80ies Pad sound on the Roland Jupiter-80. It is the kind of pad sound used in our "80ies Pads" audiofile, which you can find on the bottom of our review: http://greatsynthesizers.com/en/test/roland-jupiter-80-metamorphosis-of-a-legend/"

Excellent tutorial. Any way we could get a PDF download of the settings? I wrote this all down but had to view the video several times and even after that not sure if I have all the settings correct or not. I have the new version 2.0 and could not find the JP990 after the 2.0 update.
ReplyDeleteThere is a major polyphony issue if you use all 8 layers and all 3 partials in each layer. You end up with 256/24 since each partial is considered an OSC and I assume 1 note on the keyboard. 8 times 3. I wanted to really fatten it up by layering them with some other synths and I ran into some huge latency and note stealing issues.
Hi,
DeleteI am glad you found the tutorial helpful.
This is o n e layer constisting of just 3 partials. The thickness of the sound comes from the "super saw" wave which is in the middle, whereas the two others are panned to Left and Right.
