"ca. 1969/1970 Thomas Organ Band Box and Playmate along with control board and wiring harnesses. Went with some Trianon-600 series organs. Analog weirdness/goodness for you tech wizards. You'll have to do some research if you want the original interconnect info, or just start from scratch. Somewhat dirty. What's under the covers? Who knows! I imagine you'd need a power supply."
I have schematics of both if you want me to scan them for you. This could be retrofitted to any organ or a stand alone unit. Nobody came close to Thomas's Bandbox/Playmate combination! It's freaking interactive as hell! I had them on my Thomas Malibu Deluxe model 435. Since you can assign the beats to be triggered by either the lower manual or the pedals and at the same the sequencer ( Playmate) keeps a steady rhythm this is when it gets fun because you can also control the intensity of the attack and decay of the beats because it is linked to the organs key percussion! It is very intuitive and dynamic and it gives me goosebumps just explaining it. I have a complete extra system I am going to attempt to put on my Hammond RT-2. I know, I'm sick. BTW, the circuits for all of the drum sounds are built on 1 transistor each, and the castanet and drum roll are 2 transistors. Makes for some great modding:)
ReplyDeleteHey, is there any chance I could get my hands on those schematics? I'm attempting to mod a Thomas Bandmaster 55, and I gather that the circuits are very similar....
