BMF/macProVideo series "Foundation of Synthesis" Grows to Six Courses

MACPROVIDEO.COM/ASKVIDEO.COM AND THE BOB MOOG FOUNDATION SYNTHESIZE THE MOOG LEGACY AND EDUCATION in FOUNDATION OF SYNTHESIS SERIES

"October 2, 2012 (Vancouver, BC) macProVideo.com announces the release of the final three courses in the Bob Moog Foundation’s six part series, Foundation of Synthesis. This series couples Bob Moog’s passion for synthesis and innovation with macProVideo.com’s passion for bringing top tier education to audio lovers everywhere. The courses are led by Marc Doty, the Bob Moog Foundation’s Archive and Educational Specialist. Known throughout the synthesizer community for his instructional videos, Doty employs his understanding of electronic music history, synthesis, and the physics of sound in order to enlighten and engage geeks and novices alike to the principles behind sculpting sound. Synthesist Erik Norlander is featured throughout the series employing his massive Wall of Doom modular Moog synthesizer to assist in demonstrating concepts.

On the courses, Doty comments, “The great revolution in synthesis that took place in the 1960s was voltage control, in no small part due to the efforts of Bob Moog! The second series of videos dives into that topic and shows how the oscillator, filter, amplifier, and more can be controlled with the envelope and LFO, or by each other, through voltage control. It is through modulation that you really grasp how each section of the synthesizer is connected, and allows you to envision the most creative and musical applications of the various parts.

Steve Horelick, macProVideo.com’s and AskVideo.com’s says, “We set out to create courses for musicians who want to really learn how to use actual synthesizers. With hardware opportunities spawned by the Eurorack modular craze, the kind of synthesis that Bob Moog was so innovative with is becoming accessible to a wider audience and a new generation. Being able to bring this world to our users is something we are really proud and excited about! A portion of proceeds from the course sales go directly to the Bob Moog Foundation to support their educational programs.”

The first three courses were hugely successful and have already generated considerable funding for the Foundation.
