VINTAGE EMS AKS SYNTHI

Scam alert below.
"100% operational EMS Synthi AKS synthesizer, a true vintage original from the early 1970s. It was bought about 5 years ago from a couple who had stored it in a closet for around 30 years. Everything works: no scratchy pots (except for a slightly scratchy reverb level knob) and no iffy sequencer problems. Just plug it in, make a patch and you're ready to travel the spaceways. Comes with an instruction book, all the original patch pins, connector cable for the keyboard, and of course the power cord. This has been described by many as being LSD in a box. It's really all that and more..."

Update: see the comments in this post below.  I have no way of verifying so as always, buyer beware.  The listing doesn't ask you to, but remember, never buy outside of eBay if a seller offers a better deal as you will have no protection if you do so - always buy through eBay's Buyer Protection.  One odd thing about this listing is that the item location is in Monrovia, CA, United States, while the listing is for GBP. As for the images, I did a search on Google's image search and could not find them elsewhere.

Update2: See the second comment below.  The wallpaper matches the background in the video of a previous post from "cores".

Update3: I checked in with Cores via his YouTube account.  He confirmed these are his pics and he is not selling his AKS.  If you are wondering why I verified, there are other scams to watch out for, particularly people trying to question the validity of auctions to keep bidding down.  In this case we can no be fairly certain that the images in the listing are not from the seller.  Why not 100%?  Because anything is possible.

  5. i just got a 2nd chance offer for it....
the description was ripped from a previous auction too. still......

mmmm i appreciate that matrix synth (or any other site helpful in finding those great deals for those that don't want to look very hard) cannot check each and every auction they refer to, but i cam accross this after i had done a search on the item description and found 2 auctions through matrix synth. i wonder if matrix synth (and other deal-finders) should want to duplicate these scams. it's quite a responsibility. i am not passing judgement, it;s merely food for thought.

  6. I usually search on images. These haven't gone up before so the post went up. Someone emailed me and said he had seen the images before. I went through every single image on Google image search and they did not come up. So the question at that point was this person being truthful or was this person trying to keep bidding on the item down so he or a friend could get it for less. cores then left the comment above and I updated the post. Mochamed then left his comment and I updated the post and put a new one up to let people know. It then occured to me that the cores that left the comment above might not be the real cores for the same purpose of keeping bidding down, so I contacted cores on YouTube to verify. He confirmed he left the comment and that it was not his listing. I updated the post again and put a new one up to let people know. People that come to the site were warned with plenty of time before the auction ended. As for posting scams in general, you have no idea how many I filter out daily. If I see a scam, I don't post it and I strip the seller from the eBay links on the right. People are free to report scams as well, but you have to be 100% sure, otherwise you are screwing with someone's auction. As for this post, anyone that reads the site here would know it was a scam and would be safe. The updates nullify the original post and help remind us to only go through eBay's system to protect ourselves.

To reduce spam, comments for posts older than one week are not displayed until approved, usually same day. Do not insult people. For items for sale, do not ask if it is still available. Check the auction link and search for the item. Auctions are from various sellers and expire over time. Posts remain for the pics and historical purposes. This site is meant to be a daily snapshot of some of what was out there in the world of synths.
