Bob Moog's Bread & Gin and Tonics

via The Bob Moog Foundation on Facebook:

"A personal insight posted yesterday, Bob's 79th birthday, by his eldest daughter, Laura Moog Lanier:

'His hands were rough and large. He made kick ass bread and gin and tonics. He loved to get his hands dirty in the garden. If any of the four kids were practicing our respective instruments and we hit the wrong note or played the wrong tempo, his booming voice was quick to let us know. He loved all music from Toubab Krewe to Tina Turner to baroque trumpet to ELP. He was a chocolate and barbecue fanatic. He dressed very simply (and always with pockets in his shirts) and hated corporate bullshit. He had a laugh that was loud and raucous. His favorite childhood book was 'Ferdinand the Bull' [great book!] and although considered a genius by many, he delighted in children. He saw himself as a common man, a tool maker. Somehow, by my good fortune, I got to call him Dad. He would have been 79 today and the wound of his passing still feels fresh and ever present. The work of the Bob Moog Foundation that would have made him proud for its work is about honoring the core values of his legacy. I miss you Dad and will always feel humbled I got to be yours.'
