A-155 as Beat Slicer & Jungle Sequencer

A-155 as Beat Slicer from N K on Vimeo.

"This video demonstrates using the step inputs for Row 2 of a Doepfer A-155 sequencer for arranging audio. Eight different drum loops, some with effects on them, are patched from my DAW to the Row 2 inputs and all play continuously. The A-155 steps through all the different drum loops randomly (as set by the A-154). The sequencer advances in time with the drum loops, triggered by a four bar pattern. This trigger pattern also triggers a S+H filter on the sequencer output. The four bar pattern increases from 1/2 notes to 1/16th notes. The trigger pattern does not re-trigger the drum loops, instead it merely forces the sequencer to choose which loop you can hear."

"Here's another example of using the Doepfer A-155 Sequencer to manipulate audio signals. Eight audio samples are fed to the sequencer Row 2 inputs, in this case I use eight Jungle drum loops. A trigger pattern synced to the drum loops advances the sequencer and triggers a S+H module. The A-155 changes to a random step each time thanks to an A-154 Sequencer Controller. All the drum loops are always playing and are synced, so when a step is activated, it passes the part of the selected drum loop that is playing at that moment, rather than triggering that drum loop again. The result is similar to a DJ cross-fading between two beat-matched records, except there are eight records!"
