Up for auction is a vintage Simmons SDS-9 analog and digital (EPROM-based) electronic drum synth in perfect operating condition and in great cosmetic condition for its age. The auction also includes 66 different Simmons SDS EPROMs for use with SDS-1, SDS-7, and SDS-9 Simmons drum synths.
This auction includes: Simmons SDS-9 drum synth, 66 EPROMs in protective EPROM cases with non-conductive foam, 3 low-profile EPROM ZIF adapters (making it easy to swap EPROMs), and a custom case.
The Simmons SDS9 is a 6 voice drum synth: analog bass, digital snare, digital rim-shot A/B, and three analog toms. The digital voices uses 8k or 16k EPROMs with analog filters. The drum synth can be triggered by connecting external drum pad triggers (drum pads not included) or via any external trigger input. There is also MIDI IN/OUT that has been fully tested and working (the MP3 SDS-9 recordings posted below were created with the SDS-9 and Pro Tools software).
The digital drum synth also includes is a modulation section that allows you to set the pitch and pitch bend direction. In addition to pitch and pitch bend, there are analog effects such as filters, with resonance, and a unique delay effect. The SDS-9 is a very powerful drum synth and highly recommend downloading the SDS-9 Operation Manual (link below) to read more about the functions available on this Simmons synth.The Simmons SDS-9 is confirmed 100% working, EPROM slots, LEDs, external triggers, outputs, MIDI, and knobs have been tested and are all functioning properly. All 66 drum sound EPROMs have also been verified and are confirmed working."
