Mister Matthews 10 Cuba Libres & True Color of Venus Synthesizers

Published on Jan 16, 2014 TRUE COLOR OF VENUS·3 videos

"First single from the 905 tapes release '10 Cuba Libres' circa 2014.
All sounds created on custom True Color Of Venus synthesizers on Good Friday 2013 by Mister Matthews."

Note this is the first True Color of Venus Synthesizers post, although Mister Matthews has been mentioned in previous Modular Equinox posts. The following are some notes and pics on True Color of Venus Synthesizers via Mister Matthews:

"There will be a website at truecolorofvenus.com in the very near future, but I am far more handy in the physical world than the cyber (for the moment you can find me at truecolorofvenus@gmail.com) It will be a contact point for synth building as well as a general blog type spot to disseminate cool stuff my friends and associates are up to. The name arose as a catch all for some of my music, a tiny label imprint for tape releases, and then finally for synth builds as I started to roll them up for my gently widening circle of pals. I am not a designer, I just build from the whole breadth of available designs, from commercial DIY PCBs down thru old crusty schematics hiding in the various cubbyholes of the internet. I generally build in what people are now referring to as 4U, however there is no established standard for this yet, and I sort of feel it would best if it could stay open ended as long as possible. Mostly people have adopted Serge build style, I have taken whats good about it, but have come up with my own layouts which i think make the best sense. So much that to this point I have never labeled a single control element on a panel. My layouts have evolved from playing A LOT of live gigs in conditions that would make most of the residents over at muffwiggler choke, spotty sound systems, low light, no soundcheck... it may sound crazy but I have had several first time modular users take immediately to it. its very intuitive. Oh yeah, I am near religious regarding banana jacks, and could go on about their virtue forever, I use a really simple color coding for the jacks. At this point and as far as I can predict, any sales are rather personal. There is no exacting menu of choices. I try to figure out what someone is trying to achieve and then work out a starter system with a lot of range, and then take it wherever they want to go from there. Everything is on a one-off basis, down to hand punching and drilling each hole. Really no nonsense, very solid builds for people to make really solid nonsense with :)"
