Retr0bright Yellow Key Restoration on a Moog Little Phatty
Published on Mar 1, 2014 Syntegrator·369 videos
"Yellowed plastic is a real problem in any vintage collectible: Dingy yellow-brown parts are unpleasant to behold and severely reduce the appeal of toys, technology and (naturally) our precious and treasured synthesizers. There is a way to get those yellowed parts back to their original color, provided you are ready to mix up some caustic chemicals and hang out in the lab for a few days, which I (of course) did when faced with a chain-smoked Little Phatty keyboard.
Here is a single video (edited from 23 video recordings taken over a 3 day period) in which I apply the Retr0brite process to a severely yellowed synthesizer keybed (and its controller wheels) and get some impressively good results by the end. With the right gear and precautions, it can be done!
For more information be sure to check out the retr0brite.wikispaces.com website - Shouts out to Merlin, Lorne, Tezza and the rest for pioneering the Retr0bright formula and process!"
