What 3 Instruments Represent the History of Electronic Music?

via Martin Swan on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

"If the British Science Museum could only collect 3 instruments to represent the history of electronic music what would they be?

Next Wednesday, myself, Dave Robinson and John Stanley from the Oramics co-curation team are presenting a (hopefully fun) discussion and game at the Science Museum Late, about what synths should be acquired (if any) into the Science Museum Collection to represent the history of electronic music. COME ALONG!!! or message me with your thoughts!

  1. As an RCA Mk 2 would be next to impossible to acquire, the best alternative would be an Electronium or a Novachord. The venerable Moog Minimoog D, of course, and for the digital realm, a Korg M1.

  2. If I'm limited to three instruments, I think I have to go with a theremin, a Minimoog, and either an 808, 909, MPC, or similar beat-oriented device.

  3. moog modular, yamaha cs80 and fairlight cmi
