"This is a Wells Floor Bass Synth. Looks like late 1970s vintage. All the pedals work and track my bass guitar notes. The controls all do what they're supposed to do.

The Wells Floor Bass is not a bass effect box, it's a synth with it's own outputs which go to a bass amp and/or mixer. The bass tones are the analog type that you'd expect from a synth of this era. This instrument was designed for guitarists as an accompaniment instrument which goes on the floor under the player's guitar stool. The pedals are laid out as the strings/frets on a bass guitar would be (see pic 6). Closest row of pedals to the player correspond to the "E" string and the leftmost pedal corresponds to the open string tone. On the "E" row, the next pedal to the right is "F", then "F#", etc. The next row of pedals up corresponds to the "A" string, and the next row up is "D" and the uppermost is "G". You can play with one or both feet, but only the highest note will sound. it's a monosynth, eh.

The "Balance" pot controls the output between the two output jacks (both mono, not stereo), located on the bottom of the instrument. You'll need flat 90 degree 1/4" plugs to access the outputs with the instrument on the floor. The instrument is tuneable using the "Pitch" pot. The "Decay Rate" pot controls how long the note lasts if the "Decay" switch is set to allow Decay. The "Loud/Soft" switch does what it says it does.

The device is big and not light. It comes with a sort of homemade vinyl cover that's served to keep the unit is good condition for decades. It will ship in the cover, well padded and insured..."
