Oskar Novak Moog synthesizer demonstration

Published on Sep 28, 2014 Craig Novak

Perceptions are interesting. He states the Voyager XL "usually doesn't do much bass but it can". Hmm... That aside, enjoy the demo!

"Oskar Novak demonstrates his Moog XL and Moog Subphatty synthesizers and plays original compositions utilizing these two amazing instruments. He begins playing at 43 seconds."

Update regarding the comment on bass in the video: "It seems that I must clarify the comment in the video; although the Moog XL can obviously produce bass music, it is not as suited to that particular as a Moog Sub-Phatty since its oscillators are tuned to produce a higher volume of frequencies in the lower middle to higher frequency range (proven by spectrum analyzer), and that when I have used the XL in the studio it seems to sit better in the ears of the engineer and myself consistently when used as a melodic instrument. This same rhetoric was actually used in the video; it seems however that somehow its miniscule presence imbedded within the syntax might have been slightly confusing. If any further clarification on the comment or the explanation of its rhetoric must be provided, let me know.

    1. Also it would be good courtesy if you were to remove the first two sentences of your comment from your blog.

  2. Finally, the description has a misquote since I clearly say "but it can" instead of "when it can." That word does make all of the difference. For future reference, please be certain to accurately understand ALL the sentence and its context before making a blunt accusation of logical error, since allows your credibility to remain intact.

  3. Hi Oskar, thanks for the clarification. I updated the post with your comments. Regarding my comment, apologies if you took offense to them, but that was my initial reaction to what you said in the video. I own a Voyager, a Model D, and a Minitaur. I reviewed the Minitaur here. All three are more than well suited for bass imo. People are free to form their own opinion.

  4. Can you clarify what you said on the purpose of each synth?

  5. I use the Moog XL for my lead synth and my subphatty as my bass synth. It really just comes down to personal taste; I feel that the subphatty seems to cut better in the bass than the voyager.
