M569, Control Yourself! Part 5
Published on Oct 9, 2015 John L Rice
"Yet another installment of my Moon Modular 569 Quad Sequential Step Sequencer self-wiggling demos!
This time I'm showing how to create repeatable non-linear sequences. The 569 has several default directions it can step: forwards, backwards, ping-pong and random. While the random mode isn't linear, it is also not repeatable. However, by using the 569ES Set Expander module, a selection of gates from one row of the 569 can force another row to step out of its normal order and create some interesting and very playable patterns.
I just realized that this was possible a few days ago so I'm only scratching the surface of the possibilities in this video but I hope it inspires you to try similar experiments. (I know I'm already thinking of new things I want to try! ;-)
Besides the M569 Set Sequencer and 569ES Set Expander the modules/effects used in this video are:
Synth Tech MOTM: 3 x 300 VCOs, 440 VCF, 2 x 800 EGs, 190 VCA, 380 LFO
Moon Modular: 525 attenuator
Strymon: BigSky reverb
Roland RSP-550 reverb
Samson SM10 mixer"
