Synth in 60: Moog Mother-32s and a Sub Phatty

Published on Apr 21, 2016 Patrick OBrien

Unfortunately this one abruptly cuts off.

"Opened up the manual to deep dive into the Mother-32, but that analog spirit just took over the controls. Throwing the Moog Sub Phatty and two Moog Mother-32s together to come up with this patch, with background tracks from my modular synth.

The focus is how the two Mother-32s tempos are synced with each other. I'm also sending a clock to the modular synths (off camera) where I'm using Hexinverter drum modules, the Make Noise telHARMONIC, and Make Noise Pressure Points to carry the bass line.

The Moog Sub Phatty's unique driving sound creates melody halfway through, with pitch wheel modulation using a high LFO rate.

I recorded audio and video with an iPhone 6+

This patch is 60 seconds long, which is why I named it "Synth in 60"

No computers were used in the performance of this piece. All synths recorded live in a single take."
