Note his breath controller. The Yamaha VL1 requires breath as input to even play certain patches. It models the physics behind real world instruments and uses breath input to virtually resonate the sound you hear.

    Really such an expressive synth and great playing technique! VL-1 seems to be the apex of that type of physical modeling
