Optigan Recordings by Johnny Largo

"These are demo recordings of the Optigan made by in-house musical director Johnny Largo (aka Johnny La Padula - see Much of this material has not previously been heard, having languished on the original studio master tapes for 45 years. This will give a good sense of what the Optigan can sound like in the hands of a true professional, as well as serve as a general demonstration for the various discs. Sorry, I don't have recordings of Johnny demonstrating every last disc that was released, but I've posted what I do have."

Such a trip. For those not familiar with the Optigan it was like an optical record version of the Mellotron. The discs were like large clear flexi-disc with waveforms drawn on them. The Optigon would then play the waveforms as you played its keyboard. The Optigan was released in 1971.
