Lifeforms Dynamic Impulse Filter: Processing Percussion (LMS: Eurorack Expansion Preview)

Published on Jun 11, 2017 Learning Modular

"The Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms Dynamic Impulse Filter (DIF for short) is a very nice update on the classic “West Coast” low pass gate. It combines a VCA and a Sallen-Key resonate two-pole filter with an update on the classic vactrol circuit that allows you to dial just the amount of natural percussive decay you want.

In this video (the 4th of 4 on the DIF in my upcoming “Eurorack Expansion” course), I demonstrate using the DIF to further modify the sound of a percussion module such as the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas to create a powerful, punchy, easy to control hybrid percussion sound.

For more on using the Dynamic Impulse Filter, see the companion article on the LearningModular.com website: http://learningmodular.com/dynamic-im....
