Prophet 12 Soft Strings
Sacred Synthesis
Published on Aug 4, 2017
"Since the Prophet 12 has a reputation for being cold and shrill, I thought I'd show its warmer softer side. This improvisation is a slow, gentle, and meandering bit of music, with occasional dynamic changes to keep everyone from falling asleep.
The string patch has many nuances to it: sustained vibrato plus a slightly delayed increase of vibrato depth, a faint modulation of the filter with an LFO, a slight filter modulation of the envelope, two oscillators of pulse width modulation, two oscillators of sawtooth, and two layers slightly detuned from each other and panned for stereo mirroring. Hence, the patch allows only for six-voice playing.
