Roland D-50 Demo

Published on Aug 26, 2017 100 Things I Do

"When the D50 came out it was a sound revolution. So much Jean Michel Jarre composed most of his Revolutions album on this synth alone. At the end of the 80's and early 90's you heard this synth and its presets absolutely everywhere. From Enya to Ryuichi Sakamoto to Klaus Schulze. Everyone was captivated by the sound.

For me the D-50 is a very different beast from the JD-800 of last week. I love its sounds, its effects are amazing. With the PG-1000 programmer its a little more easy to program and you can still get some very unique sounds. This is still a go to synth today for many for creating atmosphere and suspense. The presets instantly conjures up the years of its birth but still has some special magic in the sound !

The demo was made after a long time of programming, I decided to go with presets. The track is influenced by Ryuichi Sakamoto's Wild Palms score."
