Gotharman CS Filter 1/2: overview (LMS Eurorack Expansion)

Published on Sep 7, 2017 Learning Modular

"This is the first of two movies on the IG000155 version of the Gotharman CS Filter. In addition to being a 2-pole multimode filter based on the classic Yamaha CS filter chip (IG00156) and its organ variant (IG00155: more bass; supposedly less crazy resonance), the Gotharman version takes the crown from Polivoks clone for being the most insane, unstable filter I’ve heard when pushed with high signal levels combined with high cutoff and resonance settings. This movie demonstrates how to move it between tame 2-pole response and crazy bursts of high-frequency oscillation. I also briefly touch on its high and bandpass modes in addition to low pass.

The second movie – which dives deeper into its behavior (including spectrograph displays), plus spends more time exploring the other filter modes – is exclusive to my Patreon supporters: https://www.patreon.com/LearningModular
