"Orthogonal Devices ER-101 ER-102 Warm Up Demo Patch - Eurorack CV Gate Sequencer (Full Review Soon)
In this ER 101 Sequenced eurorack patch, I am only using the ER 101.
The ER-102, Expansion Module, is not being used.

The ER-101 is a 4 tracks CV and Gate Eurorack Sequencer Module with one Gate and two CVs output per track.

Orthogonal Devices ER-101 ER-102 REVIEW Demo Tutorial (Part2) Eurorack Eurorack Modular Sequencer

Published on Apr 16, 2018

"In this video PART 2 we start digging deeper into the ER-102 Sequencer Controller module and specifically the ‘Part’ Arranger functionality including CV/Gate external control...

Orthogonal Devices ER-101 ER-102 - Part-2 REVIEW INDEX:

00:00 Introduction, notes about this PART 2 video and a reminder to watch PART 1 first if you are not familiar with how to use the ER-101 and ER-102

01:17 ER-102 hardware unit, interface, brief overview

04:55 ER-102: PARTS - What can PARTS do for us?
To see what ‘PARTS’ actually add to the ER-101 we first add and play Loops to tracks using the ER-101 only.
- Tracks looping parallel patterns
- Tracks looping unique patterns
Identify ER-101 limits, so we can clearly see the benefits added by the ER-102…

09:46 …what if we want to do more with our Patterns then?
- What if I want to do this... or that… etc…
- The ER-102 comes to the rescue
- Reset To… points (x tracK)
We start getting into the features of the ER-102 Part Section, display and controls
- Current Part
- Deleting Parts
- Create Parts
- Setting Reset To and Start/End Loop Point per track in a Part
- Voltage Display showing Reset and Loop Points per each track

Couple more things before we play our example Parts…
19:32 Shortcut to quickly scroll and find Start, Reset, Loop Start, Loop End, End… steps per each track
20:57 Transitions (User, First, Last) - How to launch Parts
- Then we start launching the example Parts we build earlier

25:44 Copy and Paste Parts
- Editing Parts while song/parts play

27:30 Creating Parts with Muted Tracks
- Lopping a muted step
- Creating a muted step anywhere

30:46 Using Control Voltage and Gates (CV/Gate Inputs) to select and activate Parts
- Note about using other sequencers to sequence part on the ER-102

32:30 SELF-SEQUENCING
- I use a Track on the ER-101 to sequence clip launching via ER-102 CV/Gate Inputs

37:47 Using CV and Gate signals to control parts from an external module"

Orthogonal Devices ER-101 ER-102 REVIEW Demo Tutorial (Part3) Eurorack Modular Sequencer

"In this video PART 3, we start looking at the Group section on the ER-102 Sequencer Controller module and specifically using GROUPS to aid Math Transforms' Steps Selection and Rotation. Group Modifiers for Non-Destructive sequence modification.

Orthogonal Devices ER-101 ER-102 - PART-3 REVIEW INDEX:

00:00 Introduction and what are Groups? - A brief introduction to Groups, Mod Busses, Possible Transforms, Low & High Gate Modifiers.

02:32 THREE Things you need to know
02:43 - Non-Destructive Transforms
03:25 - Example… how to INVERT Transforms (Need ER-102)
07:23 - Selection INVERT & ROTATE (Need ER-102)

14:14 Patch Description
Kick, Snare, Hats, More Percussion
Hexinverter Mutant Bassdrum, Mutant Snare, Analogue Solutions HH88 Hats, Doepfer A-136 DIS Distortion Waveshaper, Mutable Instruments Branches and Peaks, Erogenous Tones Levit8)

Synth lead Sound
Studio Electronics Tonestar 2600, AJH Synth Finaliser R-EQ (delay)

Mallet type of Sound
- Erica Synth Pico VCO, Doepfer A-143-2 Quand ADSR, Sputnik Modular Quad VCF/VCA

Bass Synth
- Verbos Complex Oscillator, Doepfer A-143-2 Quand ADSR, Sputnik Modular Quad VCF/VCA

18:03 Setting Up and Using Group Modifiers and using Doepfer A-173-1 + A-173-2 for Gates.
We implement some modification for a High Gate on each Mod Bus (X, Y, Z)
We use one gate at the time or send all three High Gates together

27:16 Modification of multiple parameters for a single channel (CV-A multiple transforms e.g. Semitones, Random Range, Quantize Value all via One Gate)

30:10 Slopes (CV Inputs Multipliers)

34:!2 Notes about Copy/Paste Group Content and about the 16 Groups being all available at the same time.

35:05 Example of a setup where a High Gate activates modifiers on more than one group where each group has an effect on different steps or on a number of steps shared among multiple groups

38:52 We play with the Patch-Setup we just created and explained in section 35:05

42:06 Quick recap then Conclusion thoughts on this Part 3
Recap and notes about possibilities
