Yamaha TX81z - Sound demo with 80's tracks

Published on Apr 26, 2018 tiergrinder

"Yamaha TX81z is a 4-operator FM synthesizer from 1987.

TX81z was released after DX7's success as an cheaper alternative to it's bigger brothers DX7, TX7 and TX816. With just 4 operators it's not quite as punchy and expressive than 6 operator DX7, but it's still capable to do some really lovely sounds that are useful even today. I use it's sounds in retrowave.

In this short demo I focus on the sounds that I use the most myself. Electric piano, basses and percussion sounds. I threw this together to showcase the nature and timbre of the synth. Sound levels are in favour what ever is demonstrated at the moment.
Hope you enjoy :)"
