New Percussa SSP Eurorack Module Demo Video & Update

via the Percussa SSP Kickstarter:

Stretch Goal Survey Results, Multitrack Recorder + Preset GUI Update, and First Shipments

Hi everyone,

It's time again for an update! We got the module voting results, we got a new cool video for you showing how we extended the recorder to 16 inputs / 8 outputs, we got news on some important usability improvements of the preset menu system and we have news on the production and shipment of the first SSPs!

** Stretch Goal Survey Results **

Thanks everyone for participating in the SSP stretch goal module voting! Here are the results:

Advanced Modules:

Live Input Granular Processor with Arbitrary Morphable Window (from WAV) support
Looper (reel to reel style, record into it using trigger / CV signals etc)
Microtuning quantizer with SCALA support
Simple Modules:

Env follower
Generic Arpeggiator (takes cv signal and will “arpeggiate” it)
We will keep you in the loop on the development of the above modules via kickstarter updates as always.

** Multitrack Recorder Update **

We extended the recorder on the SSP and it is now possible to use all 16 inputs for recording at 192kHz, 96kHz and 48kHz at 32 bit!

See below for a video demoing the new recorder as well as download links for the multitrack recordings recorded on the SSP during the video session. In the video I hooked up an intellijel planar joystick, 3 Make Noise STOs, 2 Erica Synths Black VCOs, and 1 Intellijel Dixie II to create a 16 channel track.

Besides recording all 16 inputs, you can also simultaneously record the output of the 8 output channels to the SD card. This means you can record whatever signal (CV or audio) coming into the SSP as well as any signal going out of it simultaneously as 2 different multichannel files.

The recorded files can be easily loaded into your favourite DAW for further editing and mixing (if you don’t have a DAW you can also use Audacity, a free download). See below for download links.

IMPORTANT: if you load these multichannel files into audacity for example to listen to them, make sure to REDUCE THE GAIN of all the tracks such that the stereo sum going out of your soundcard is NOT clipping. The channels are all recorded at full scale (max amplitude).

Since the SSP makes no distinction between CV or audio signals and everything is sampled at the same sample rate and resolution, you can create multitrack recordings containing both CV and audio signals as you can see in the above recordings (channels 1 and 2 are the intellijel planar joystick X/Y signals).

** Preset GUI Update **

We improved the GUI of the global page, where all the preset related features can be found on the first page: you can now easily switch patches or presets by scrolling through the list of presets using the first encoder. Confirming selection is as simple as pressing the encoder.

The name of the preset is also shown in really big font for easy readability from the distance, on the same page. Important if you are in the studio and are not sitting directly in front of the SSP (note that the SSP has a special IPS display which remains viewable from any angle).

Renaming can be done on the same page using a big cursor. When renaming the preset you can use the cursor keys to navigate in the name and the encoder to change characters. The result is a super fast workflow.

** First batch of shipments **

This week we received all the anodized front panels for the SSPs and did a first initial inspection and they all look great! We also received the customized front panels for those people who backed the custom SSP pledge or pre-ordered a custom SSP.

The coming week we'll start assembling, testing and shipping the first SSPs! The first units will be sent out to the backers of the Percussa SSP Serial #1 pledge and the Percussa SSP custom pledge, after which we'll start shipping to the backers who pledged for a low serial number by taking the backer number into account.

The plan is to ship about 7 SSPs the coming week. The first week of June, we’ll pick up the rest of the units at the factory and then start assembling, testing and shipping them. As soon as your SSP is shipped we’ll let you know and send you a tracking number.

** Forum reminder **

If you haven't already checked out the Percussa forum go to https://forum.percussa.com/ and sign up for an account. We look foward to seeing you there!

Until next week :-)
