Roland S-550 and Gotek USB-Floppy Emulator | Review & Demo

Published on May 24, 2018 Espen Kraft

"The Roland S-550 sampler is one of the best sounding vintage samplers out there. It has a really present sonically character and it "degrades" the sound in a very musically way that's pleasing to the ear.
Using a USB floppy emulator is on paper the right thing to do, but in truth it can be a real hassle so be aware of lots of button pushing, make list of whats stored on the USB mamory sticks and don't mess up LEFT and RIGHT buttons on the emulator! :D

The file structure on the memory stick is as follows:

U: ___ | IMG720 _____ | 000.IMG 001.IMG 002.IMG

The 000.IMG file must be the OS image file and the memory stick MUST be formatted with a MBR option - master boot record. Use something like RUFUS for WIndows to do this. Google it."
