"This is an original Baldwin Syntha-Sound synthesizer from the 1970s. Rare early US made synth from a well-known maker. It DOES NOT WORK Properly! Powers on, the switch lights up, and I can hear a slight hum through the built in speakers but absolutely no sounds from the keyboard. When I plug in a cord into the external output and into an external amplifier, I can sometimes hear a faint sound of the synth overshadowed by noise, BUT after it was on for awhile suddenly the keys seemed to be working and it got pretty loud with some changes in sound when pressing various buttons, and then the volume dropped down to almost nothing. The next time I turned it on, I got no sound either with the internal or external output. Who knows what will work or not work next? The sound is not consistent so no guarantee about how much sound you can get out of it without work. Sometimes all keys sound and sometimes only some of them or none! Very frustrating! Three of the sliders have the button broken off almost flush with the panel and I have only two of those buttons. The sliders are plastic and not very sturdy. All the sliders are essentially frozen as you can't move them without risk of breaking off another button. So, it will need work to the electronics including replacement or repair of the sliders and I don't have any idea of the extent of work needed. Sold AS IS since it obviously is not currently functional, and I don't know if it can be fixed or not. If you buy this and then decide it is too much work to fix the keyboard is NOT returnable so please understand that before bidding. This had been stored for at least the last 20 years or longer. The push buttons depress and come back up but don't currently do anything. Cosmetically, it looks pretty good overall but there are some scratches in the wood cabinet and wear at the corners. There are some scratches on the faceplate also with two bad scratches near the words" Spectrum Shaper". There are two old stickers from a music store which is long gone. I did locate a copy of the Baldwin promotional flyer and am including that with the purchase. Original lamp cord style two-prong power cord. No expression pedal. This could be a good restoration project or parts source. Weighs about 38 lbs before packing. Shipping will be $70 economy ground service in the US (so no PO boxes since it would be Fedex) BUT if you are in a nearby state it could be less so I can check if you are interested. Due to the size and weight not likely to be affordable to ship overseas so I am limiting this to US customers BUT if you are outside the US but want it shipped to a US address contact me first. Email with questions and thanks for looking!"
