Interesting note from the listing on CV compatibility of the SH-5:
"In order to join this SH-5 to your standard CV/GATE network:
CV signal level shift mod installed on buyer's requrst, change coming standard CV signal (C=0[V] protocol) to F=0[V] (Roland old internal protocol SH-5 runs on).
GATE signal level shift mod installed on buyer's request, accept today's standard 5[V] GATE signal. (SH-5 requires at least 12-13[V] GATE SIGNAL to drive EGs right)"
