Critter & Guitari - LIGHT-CYCLES for Organelle

Published on Mar 7, 2019 Critter & Guitari

"Author: Kyle Werle in collaboration with Patrick.

This is one of thirteen user-made patches we're showcasing! The Organelle is full of possibilities waiting to be explored and shared. Each patch in this series is a unique approach to an instrument or effect - the result of the contributor working with the Organelle to make their vision a reality! The icing of this musical cake is that the patches have been shared so others may explore and create! Thanks to all the creators making the Organelle more than we thought it could be!

LIGHT-CYCLES is a complex sample player. Initially, it will play a sample from start to finish over sixteen stepped-chunks. One knob changes the starting point of the current chunk, adding the new change to the sequence. Another knob changes the source sample for the current chunk, also writing that change to the sequence. This quickly turns into an IDM machine and keeps going with a filter, pitched BPM control, delay controls on the lower keyboard, and stutter effects on the upper keyboard. We start with a simple beat, then abstract our pattern to see how far the patch can go.
