"This is known as the Italo Disco synth, but it is capable of so much more. Do a search on YouTube for "Solton Hungry Like the Wolf" to see what this synth is really capable of. But that really only scratches the surface. These were used as sort of one-man synthpop bands back in the day, were found on a lot of italo-disco hits, and have enjoyed quite a cult following as of late. They were made in Italy, and have now become very rare to find, particularly in the US, and especially in this condition. It has a really warm sound, due to the SSM chips used in the circuitry. The string synth is incredibly rich sounding, similar to a Crumar Performer. The synth sounds like a Roland SH-101. The bass synth is very punchy, similar to a Moog bass or even a TB-303. You have full control over the volume levels of each of the 8-bit drum sounds, and the drum programming is very intuitive, sounding very similar to a LinnDrum. You can also swap out eproms if you have an eprom burner. The synth sounds are incredibly flexible, with sliders to control the brilliance of the sound, sliders to control the sustain of the bass notes, and sliders to control the volume of the piano, strings, bass, accordion, and synth sounds."
