OCTAVE THE CAT Synthesizer - Sounds & Patches | Synth Demo

Published on Dec 18, 2019 synth4ever

"Demo of Octave The Cat analog synthesizer, featuring tweaking on various sounds and patches. Filmed at Paul's Boutique music shop (www.paulsboutique.ca) in Toronto, Canada.

Released in the 1970s, Octave the Cat is a monophonic/duophonic synth with 2 VCOs (2 sawtooth, 2 square wave, and 1 triangle) plus 2 sub-oscillators, 1 LFO, 1 VCA and 2 envelope generators (AR and ADSR). It also has some quirky modulation routings.

Both the original Cat and SRM Cat allow you to create some wild sounds including screaming leads, S&H patterns and noisy textures. It is a fun synth to explore as it offers a decent amount of sound design potential.

Octave The Cat is a classic synth similar in design to the Arp Odyssey, but with its own sonic flavor. If you have the chance to try one out, definitely give it a go."
