According to this 2008 post, the EM 22 used the same Curtis CEM3396 uP Controllable Dual Waveform Converter / Processor used in the the Oberheim Matrix 1000 and Cheetah MS6. The videos in this post apparently feature one but I'm not sure if you can see it.

The instrument has MIDI and offers different settings for how the instrument play and receive MIDI. The keyboard can be split and it's setting saved along with other preferences as a Performance Preset. There are 16 performance presets that's have performance features like the keyboard split, portamento setting, wheel settings, and MIDI.
Oscillators are very programmable with syncing, individual tuning, level and modulations. There are two six-stage envelope generators for total control of dynamics. The EK-22 is a capable synth similar to the Prophet 600 in programmability but more like the Matrix 6 in its look and push button style programming interface.
