NMC Learning at Home: The Sonica Synthesizer

Published on May 11, 2020 National Music Centre

"Evan the Educator highlights the sonica, a quirky electronic instrument in the National Music Centre's collection. Built in 1979 by Frank Eventoff, it sounds like a cross between a theremin, sitar, and violin."

  1. How about an update with a tone button which works? After all, you've thirty to choose from..
Pretty important bit to leave out on thi instrument.

Synthgeek note: That's a Serge Tcherepnin designed oscillator inside each Sonica. And each was indeed hand-carved by Frank E.
