Fantasy Soundtracks Ep:4 'Invaders'

DreamsOfWires

"4th in a series of simple live jams inspired by some of my favourite vintage sci-fi and horror from the cinema and TV. I thought it'd be a fun idea to see what I can do with a simple setup, perhaps ony 2 analog synth voices, and modest digital effects. These will be inspired by the lo-fi, low-budget synthesizer soundtracks of the 70's and early 80's - often very simple, spartan compositions, which is what made them special I think.

In this video I'm just experimenting with the Sample & Hold module whilst I learn how to use it. See the subtiltles for an explanation of what you can hear. The modules used were 3 AJH Synth VCO's, 2 VCA's, the Sonic XV and Gemini filters, the Entropic Doom noise module, Fixed Filter Bank FFB 914, Contour Generators, Dual LFO, Ring SM, Precision Voltages, and the Sample & Hold. A little reverb is added courtesy of Audio Damage's EOS2.

I have fond memories of the film 'Invaders from Mars' after seeing it multiple times as a child, and finding it pleasingly creepy (despite some of it seeming a bit silly), I loved the idea of aliens living under the sand pit at the end of my garden. So, I re-watched it recently, and decided to dedicate a spot to it among my 'fantasy soundtracks' series.
