Bad Gear - Evolver by Dave Smith - The False Prophet
video upload by AudioPilz
"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world's most hated audio tools. Today we are going to talk about the Evolver by Dave Smith. Is this very first instrument and hybrid synth released by DSI a modular synthesizer in a box or the false prophet? Is it still in the tradition of classic Sequential Circuits synths?

I've nowhere near getting deep with this synth, but thankfully I heard a demo of it a couple of years ago and grabbed a nice used one. It really does sound great, and thankfully a large amount of the interface is literally spelled out on the panel, 80s E-mu style. Also surprisingly small and light!
