There is information about these online but here’s the basic idea: It’s a 10 voice FM synthesizer where 6 of the voices are catered to drum synthesis and 4 to tonal synthesis. Of course the voices are flexible enough that you don’t need to stick to that paradigm but the envelopes for each section lend themselves well to those duties. The Blast Beats uses vintage Yamaha Soundblaster FM synthesis chips to generate the sounds (these were most famously used in PC sound cards in the 1990s and aren’t too far a cry from the Sega Genesis chips of the same era). You can get a wide range of sound from this device as the huge fader banks give you a crazy amount of hands on control over the FM parameters. It’s basically the interface everyone has always wanted in an FM synth!
There’s an onboard 10 track, 64 step sequencer that will record real time, step, or xox style input either onboard with the buttons or over midi and it has sequencer/ midi effects like stutter, bend, freeze, wiggle, vibrato, etc.
along with the mix and headphone outputs there are four assignable alt outputs, the assignments of which can be sequenced!
I’m barely scratching the surface of what this can do and it gets regular firmware updates adding functionality. In fact I’m a few updates behind so you’ll want to check for updates when you get this (and regularly thereafter if you like to be up to date). Since it’s a small company you can even email the developer with ideas and he might just add them in a future update.
This particular unit only has a few hours of use on it and I’m the original owner. It comes with everything that was included when I received it; the unit itself, the power supply, an assortment of international plug adapters for power, a 32 gig micro sd card (which stores all user data) and adapter, a quick start sheet, and the box. I will remove the sd card from the machine for shipping for safety but you’ll need to re-insert it before it can be used as it holds the operating system and all user data.
If you want one of these rarities you better jump on it when one pops up."
