"This is the rack mount version of the iconic ESQ-1 digital wave synthesizer from Ensoniq. (The ESQ-M is identical in synthesis functions but does not include a sequencer.)In working condition (see tests, below). Used in a home studio setting (non-smoking), never toured.
Recent Maintenance:
* New battery installed September, 2023. (Manual states that batteries can be expected to last about 10 years.)
* Volume and Data sliders cleaned with Deoxit Fader
Tested:
* Midi Input - Working in all modes (Omni, Poly, Multi)
* Voice output - All 8 voices play on both L and R channels
* Filter tuning - All filters tune between 143-156 (Service manual states normal range between 140-160.)
* Memory back-up: Battery at 3.26 voltes, patches retained after long power-off period.
* Sys-Ex: Factory patch dump via SysEx successful.
* Fluorescent display still evenly bright and readable (may not be as 100% bright as when new but still works good)
* Volume slider does not crackle
* Data slider successfully hits full range of numbers
* All front panel buttons
* Front "Compare" LED
* Rom Version 1.00
Not Tested:
* Cartridge functions (I do not have a known-good cartridge to test with)
* Analog Control Voltage / Expression Input"
