The Access Virus Has Been Discontinued

According to Amazona.de, the Access Virus has been officially discontinued.

Google translated:

Many people have already suspected it: Access mastermind Christoph Kemper has confirmed to us that the Access Virus TI2 has no longer been produced for a few months. There were many clues, as the last Access Virus TI2 series was released in 2009. The Virus TI2 series included the Polar, Snow, Darkstar and Desktop models. Nothing new has been heard from Access Virus Synthesizer since then. The TI2 has been available for all these years and disappeared from shops in the last few months. Only power supplies and rackmounts can be found on the Access Virus website.

The move away from Access Virus could have something to do with the fact that Christoph Kemper discovered his love for amp propiling in 2011 and released the first Kemper Amp, which is still a complete success today. Despite this success, Access had a stand at Superbooth 2018 and we were able to ask Christoph Kemper about plans for new synthesizers.

Christoph Kemper confirmed that he is still interested in synthesizers, but is currently at full capacity with the Kemper amps. It became clear that his company did not have the capacity to develop Kemper amps and Access synthesizers at the same time. In the interview it was suggested that there might be an Access Virus TI3, but he didn't want to specify."

  1. Over the years I have owned the TI Polar and TI2 DarkStar. Both were eventually sold and I ended buying my favorite model. It is the semi-rare Access Virus KC RedBack (The 37 key version)

  3. Love my Indigo 1 and 2. Absolutely indispensable workhorses. Vendors just don’t make synths like this anymore.

  4. Actually they do make better synths these days. I got a 3rd Wave desktop... it's not just a PPG clone, it does pretty much everything my Virus Ti2 does, but better, more voices, analog filters, virtual analog that's never hard on the ears etc. Groove Synthesis is 10x as good at making synths as Kemper ever was.

  5. Don't let the voice count fool you, the 3rd Wave gives you 24 voices regardless of complexity of the patch, unlike the Virus which advertises a max voice count that's rarely achievable in practical use.

  6. Propiling? Is that supposed to be profiling?
