"Even more of a classic than the OB-Xa, this beauty from around 1981 has been fully serviced in August 2024. It has a very unusual and useful mod where the cassette level switch is re-purposed as a noise switch and the filter can be multi-mode. ***More info: OB-X filter mod based on SEM. The mod uses the repurposed Noise buttons to choose LP/ Band/ HP Filters. Therefore patches can be saved with filter type setting. The noise modes are now accessible via the Cassette Monitor Switch. The new switch for cassette monitor is now mounted inside the synth. Considering the Memory Protect switch is already inside the synth and needs to be switched when loading patches from cassette (or these days a WAV), this new location is not an inconvenience. Most importantly the mods are all non-destructive and can be removed if desired. Also utilises the Magnetic RAM card so no battery is needed http://www.electrongate.com/dmxfiles/mram.html *** Very similar serial number (804109) to the Radiophonic Workshop OB-X, which was 804204. Unusual, really, to have the full eight voices from the factory, because the 6-voice seemed more affordable at the time and still beat the Prophet-5. The price in today's money would have been 16500GBP. Packing 30GBP to include a UK or Euro mains lead."
