Moog Labyrinth 50 Modular Patches & Sequences + WAV Samples

video upload by Anton Anru

"'Circuit Maze' is a collection of 50 patches for the semi-modular synth Moog Labyrinth. Dedicated to the modular spirit, the bank of presets embraces the analog warmth, experimental mindset, and rich sonic possibilities provided by Moog Labyrinth—an instrument that challenges traditional sequencing, offering fresh ways to shape sound and inspire creativity.

🎛 While crafting this soundset, I wanted to fully explore Labyrinth's capabilities, dive deep into its unconventional workflow, and have fun with its distinctive sequencing approach, which is unavailable on other synths. The result is a collection of 50 patches designed to inject unique and evolving patterns into any track or performance.
Each preset—or fragments of it—can function as bass, percussion, melody/lead, pluck, or FX, making this collection highly versatile.

💽 The presets explore a wide spectrum of tones, from warm, clean, soft, and deep to noisy, metallic, distorted, punchy, and bright. Some sounds are bold enough to take center stage, while others work best as supporting elements, adding texture and movement to your compositions.
You can use the patches as they are, but I strongly encourage real-time tweaking, allowing you to shape and evolve the timbres throughout your performance for a dynamic and immersive experience.

📙 The soundset is provided as a PDF document. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters are worth tweaking during playback, and how to develop the timbre during a performance. If you make all the settings consciously and try the things mentioned in the notes, you will learn a lot about the synth and discover its true depth.
To recreate these patches you need up to 6 patch cords. There are audio examples of all patches included in the soundset folder.

💾 The soundset also includes 24/41000 WAV samples, accompanied by BPM and scale information. You can use them as they are, or you're free to resample, edit, and apply effects. These samples offer a versatile material for your experimentation.

🕹 Moog Labyrinth offers an unusual way of creating sequences—you cannot manually set specific step values or notes. There are two options:
1 - Generate random values by turning the CORRUPT knob up and lock in the result by turning it down.
2 - Use the BIT FLIP button—after reactivating a step, it will acquire a new value.
The only controllable parameters are the number of active steps, sequence length, and range—these values are specified in my patches. However, setting precise notes is impossible.
❗️ This means there’s no way to replicate my sequence on your device. In some cases, this isn’t critical—you’ll just get a different melody while keeping the timbre intact. In other cases, it may affect the sound itself, as FM and/or RING modulation is used, and their character heavily depends on oscillator frequencies and step notes. You should be prepared for this and not be discouraged if your result differs from the audio example.
Instead, you can experiment with different values for the sequencers or embrace your own version—I'm sure it will be just as interesting and unique as the original.
👆 This is an important and fascinating feature of this sound bank that I feel obligated to mention. Labyrinth requires a slightly different mindset when working with patches—it’s not about precisely recreating a result, but rather a compelling starting point for your future experiments.

🎼 In this sound bank, I use an external MIDI clock to record audio and samples at a specific tempo. I indicate the BPM and Clock Division used for each patch. However, you are not required to match these settings—you can use any values you prefer.

💡 I added pads and drum loops for the video demo to place the presets in a musical context.
These drums and pads are not included in the soundset."
