"Replicant RM is a ring modulator based on the legendary Yamaha CS80. At its core is the same analog architecture that gave the CS-80 its character. We’ve built it around the MC1496 IC, a modern alternative to the original uA796 used in CS80.

Just like the original, Replicant RM includes its own dedicated VCO. It offers both sine and square waveforms. Sine delivers a clean, pure tone that defined the CS80’s ring mod sound. Square adds grit and harmonic complexity. The oscillator features two speed modes and a dedicated output.

We’ve also included a built-in Attack/Decay envelope generator, another key part of the CS-80’s ring mod section. It can be gated or looped, and has two speed modes for shaping everything from bell-like tones to rhythmic pulses. The envelope also features two speed modes and a dedicated output.
