excerpt of Don Buchla's arrangement of Terry Riley InC as implemented by Joel Davel in 1993

video upload by Joel Davel

"This was an element of my first project with Don Buchla. The graphics and MIDI sequencing was programmed in HMSL-Forth. (Heirarchical Music Specification Language) and J-Forth that controlled two graphic sprites on an Amiga 3000 computer. The sprites act like two computer mouses, but they are controlled by two independent Buchla Lightning wands. This was installed at the Exploratorium Museum in San Francisco in 1993-1994 for two participants to drag instruments onto the phrases as they appear."
