Offered for sale is a remarkably well-preserved 1981 MOOG Liberation analog synthesizer keytar—an exceptionally complete, documented, and professionally serviced example of one of Moog’s most iconic vintage instruments.
The MOOG Liberation is a 44-key dual-oscillator monophonic analog synth it is often considered comparable to Moog's other two-oscillator synths such as the Rogue or Concertmate MG-1, but in actuality the Liberation is most similar to Moog's most popular dual-vco synth, the Prodigy. The actual synth controls of the Liberation are nearly identical to the Prodigy, with the addition of Ring Mod, Noise and Polysynth controls in the Mixer section. The Liberation also uses sliders and toggle switches instead of the Prodigy's knobs and slide switches.
I purchased this instrument from the original owner, and it comes with an extraordinary level of original documentation and accessories. Included are the original 1981 purchase invoice, original owner’s manual, original warranty card, original power supply (cleaned and serviced), original 40-foot power supply cable (cleaned and serviced), and the original “SWITCH TRIGGER (S-TRIG) PLUG,” still sealed in its original envelope with the original typewriter-typed description on the front.
This Liberation has been professionally gone through by a qualified Moog technician, cleaned, and checked to ensure it is in operational working order. It has never been traveled, was used only a couple of times in the studio, and has been carefully preserved over the years. The overall condition is pristine, especially for an instrument of this age.
