"The Story Behind This SynthUp for auction/sale is an incredibly beautiful Moog Memorymoog Plus. This is the rare, ultimate factory-upgraded version of Moog’s absolute flagship polyphonic synthesizer. When fully functioning, its 18 analog voltage-controlled oscillators sound completely massive.
Cosmetically, the unit is in fantastic shape , with only a couple minor blemishes and has been well-cared for in a smoke-free environment. It comes housed in a heavy-duty, ATA flight case.
Current Technical Status (Please Read Carefully)
The unit currently does not start up. When flipped on, it does power up but does not fully boot into its operational state.
I love this machine, but I simply do not have the time, patience to haul this massive 65+ lb beast to a qualified vintage tech. I had it fully serviced a few years ago but these wonderful machines do need a service every so often.
Because I am choosing not to deal with the logistics of a repair, my loss is your absolute gain.
The "PLUS" Benefits — Why This Is A Premium Opportunity
Vintage synth technicians, collectors, and builders know that the Memorymoog Plus is much more valuable and sought-after than the standard model:
Factory MIDI Implementation: Includes original factory MIDI In/Out/Thru ports right on the back panel, allowing you to sequence and integrate it seamlessly with modern gear right out of the box once repaired.
Onboard Sequencer: Features the built-in 4,000+ note real-time and step polyphonic sequencer. It also outputs CV/Gate, allowing you to sequence an external monosynth (like a Minimoog) simultaneously.
Upgraded Autotune & Power Supply Circuits: The Plus model left the factory with Moog's revised computer-assisted tuning software and upgraded power management, resulting in vastly superior oscillator stability compared to the baseline original units.
Perfect Modding Platform: Techs actively hunt for the Plus model because it is the ideal, stable core foundation for the highly prized Lintronics Advanced Memorymoog Modification (LAMM) or Kenton MIDI retrofits."
