Bitcrush Legio: Stereo pitch-tracking downsampler on the Legio platform

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Bitcrush Legio is a stereo bitcrusher and downsampler with pitch-tracking sample-rate reduction, giving you all sorts of ways to digitally destroy a sound.

Let's start with Bits. This reduces the bit depth of your signal, adding everything from subtle digital grit to seriously crunchy textures.

Then there's Rate. Instead of simply setting the downsample rate, Rate tracks 1 volt per octave, so we can sequence or modulate it just like the pitch of an oscillator.

Dither adds noise before the signal is quantized, changing the character of all that digital destruction.

And if things are getting a little too crispy, the LPF switch gives us two flavors of filtering to tame the high end, or we can switch it off completely and let all that crunch through.

The Envelope switch gives us two ways to control dynamics, either matching the original volume or normalizing the signal before crushing it.

And pressing the encoder or sending a gate to the Hit input are easy ways to bypass the whole effect, perfect for dropping Bitcrush in and out of a performance.

And Bitcrush is only one option. The entire Legio firmware collection is free to swap with a simple USB connection.

23 Firmwares.
One Legio.
