"In this video, I’m using Synterra through its light sensor. By detecting changes in ambient light, it generates a generative melody in the Hijaz scale.

I’m sending the data generated by Synterra to the computer as MIDI over USB. Here, I’m using not only the MIDI notes, but also the MIDI CC data it generates at the same time.

The MIDI data is routed simultaneously to two different plug-ins: an FM-based synthesizer and a resonator. Some of the MIDI CC data coming from Synterra is assigned to the level parameters of the operators inside the FM synthesizer. This means Synterra is controlling not only which notes are played, but also the structure and movement of the sound itself in real time.

Also, I’m not using all of the CC data Synterra is sending in this video; the system is capable of generating even more control data at the same time.

When MIDI Clock is used, Synterra’s tempo-based effects can also be synchronized easily with the computer-based system.

Bu videoda Synterra’yı ışık sensörü üzerinden kullanıyorum. Ortamdaki ışık değişimlerini algılayarak Hicaz gamında generatif bir melodi oluşturuyor.

Synterra’nın ürettiği verileri USB üzerinden MIDI olarak bilgisayara gönderiyorum. Burada yalnızca MIDI notalarını değil, aynı anda ürettiği MIDI CC verilerini de kullanıyorum.

MIDI verisi iki farklı plug-in’e aynı anda yönlendiriliyor: FM tabanlı bir synthesizer ve bir resonator. Synterra’dan gelen bazı MIDI CC’leri ise FM synthesizer içerisindeki operatörlerin level parametrelerine atanmış durumda. Böylece Synterra yalnızca hangi notaların çalınacağını değil, sesin kendi yapısını ve hareketini de gerçek zamanlı olarak kontrol ediyor.

Üstelik bu videoda Synterra’nın gönderdiği tüm CC verilerini kullanmıyorum; sistem aynı anda daha fazla kontrol verisi üretebiliyor.

MIDI Clock kullanıldığında Synterra’nın tempo tabanlı efektleri de bilgisayardaki sistemle kolayca senkronize edilebiliyor."
